Carly specialises in therapy with adopted and fostered children (or those in kinship/special guardianship care). She works to an attachment and trauma recovery model. Carly uses a range of approaches within her therapy according to the needs of the child, their behavioural profile and the needs of the family as a whole. Her work primarily draws on DDP and Trauma Recovery but can include elements of Play Therapy. Carly uses art, play, drama, music and games alongside these approaches to increase emotional regulation in the child and build new, positive ways of being between parents/carers and their children. She also provides Life Story Work.
Aims of her work include:
•Increasing stability within foster and adoptive families
•Increasing self-esteem for the child
•Promoting positive attachments between the child and their (foster) parents
•Helping children understand and make sense of their Life Story
