Carly specialises in therapy with adopted and fostered children (or those in kinship/special guardianship care). She works to an attachment and trauma recovery model. Carly is an experienced Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapist and as such, focuses on the relationship between parents/carers and their children as the primary source of trauma recovery. Carly adapts her approach according to the needs of the child and the family as a whole. Her work primarily draws on DDP and Trauma Recovery but can include elements of Play Therapy. Carly aims to increase emotional regulation in the child and build new, positive ways of being between parents/carers and their children. This work involves parent-only sessions where their own attachment histories, grief and loss is explored. She also provides Therapeutic Life Story Work.

    Aims of her work include:

    •Increasing stability within families

•Increasing sense of safety for the child and their family

•Promoting positive attachments between the child and their parents

. Providing a safe space for parents to express grief, loss, celebrations and joy and for this safety to include challenging unhelpful approaches and blocked care

•Helping children understand and make sense of their Life Story
